During the week-long event we saw tricks from some of the world’s best freeskiers with only a few casualties - Chris Laker sustaining a shoulder injury after a triple cork attempt on day two and Elias Ambuhl still lost over the Tasman Sea.

When the athletes turned up under breathless sunny skies, they all knew this might be their last chance to put themselves in the direct path of the $10,000 cash. The Rip Curl Freeride Pro wrapped up in Thredbo last night with the Rip Curl Throwdown, an invitational big air and rail event, which had the big crowd, making a lot of noise with its enthusiastic response.

Lake Wanaka (2 August 2011) - Competitors at the 2011 World Heli Challenge were treated to another amazing day yesterday during the final day of competition, the Extreme Day at Mt. Albert. The day started in a most unusual way, with athletes and event crew boarding a barge that crossed the upper tip of Lake Wanaka heading towards the base of the Minaret Station. The barge became the launch site for the helicopters, providing an extra element of excitement for the day ahead. All photos Tony Harrington

While gathering shots for this year's issue we came across the photographic wizadry of realitve new comer, Jordan Sell. His shot of Jesse Houghton cleaning up a kicker in Breckenridge warrented a full page in the mag, and we reckon there will be plenty more to come from this Jindbyne local.
